Springfield, Massachusetts is about to get a dose of “Country Grammar” as hip hop superstar Nelly is going to be the headlining act at The Big E this coming September.
The Eastern States Exposition – a.k.a. The Big E – will take place September 16 through October 2, and Nelly will be the main event on Friday, September 3, performing in The Big E Arena, it was announced today.
Nelly has sold over 21 million albums since first hitting the scene in 2000 with his Country Grammar album, featuring the hits “Ride Wit Me,” “Country Grammar” and “E.I.” His second album, Nellyville, was even bigger, featuring perhaps his most famous song, “Hot in Herre.”
He is also known for a couple of duets: “Dilemma,” featuring former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, and “Over and Over,” teaming up with country star Tim McGraw.
Nelly is a three-time Grammy winner, capturing Best Male Rap Solo Performance for “Hot in Herre,” Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Dilemma,” and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Shake Ya Tailfeather.”
The Big E is billed as “New England’s Great State Fair,” and features rides, games, food, exhibitions and more. All tickets purchased to see shows at The Big E arena include tickets into the fair itself.
So stock up on Band-Aids so you’ll have plenty for you and your friends to stick on your faces. Tickets to see Nelly at The Big E Arena go on sale this coming Friday, April 8, at 10 a.m.
There are a few other acts already announced for this year’s Big E, with more expected. Sublime With Rome – featuring original Sublime bassist Eric Wilson teaming with singer/guitarist Rome Ramirez – will perform all your favorite Sublime songs on September 24. Country stars Chase Rice and Jimmie Allen will perform on September 30. Tickets for those performances are already on sale.
