No. 1 A&T Set for Senior Day Against No. 7 Hawaii Pacific


WACO, Texas – No. 1 Baylor acrobatics & tumbling is set to take on No. 7 Hawaii Pacific for its senior day on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Ferrell Center, also closing out the home slate for 2022.
 
Baylor (6-0) is on an 11-match win streak dating back to the 2021 season and looks to improve upon it against HPU (1-4). The Bears are also on a six-meet win streak against the Sharks and are 3-0 in the Ferrell Center.
 
The last meet between the two was on March 27, 2021, with BU besting Hawaii Pacific, 273.385 – 269.300, in Waco.
 
Baylor is coming off a 279.460-257.725 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor, a season sweep over the Crusaders. The Bears won by 21.735 points and had their fourth perfect-10 score in pyramid in the meet.
 
After the win, BU’s Emily Tobin earned her fourth NCATA Athlete of the Week award, while Bayley Humphrey was named Specialist of the Week for the second time this season. Tobin consistently competes in the most heats per meet out of the entire squad, contributing in as many as 13 heats for the Bears.
 
HPU started its season with back-to-back meets against Azusa Pacific, then went on to face Gannon and Oregon. The Sharks faced East Texas Baptist on Tuesday to gain their first win of the season, besting the Bengals, 259.155 – 237.660. The meet against Baylor will be the last of the regular season for the Sharks before the NCATA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
 
Senior Day ceremonies will take place after the team event at the meet on Saturday, with 18 seniors being honored. Upon entry to the Ferrell Center, fans will receive a free Uncrustables sandwich while supplies last, as Apr. 4 is national peanut butter and jelly day.
