Redshirt junior Vernon Turner cleared a first-place jump at 7-6.50 (2.30m) in men’s high jump to set a new outdoor school record, move to No. 1 in the nation and tie for first in the world.
In women’s discus throw ‘B’, sophomore Paige Low placed sixth with a mark at 160-7 (48.95m), while junior Payden Montana finished ninth, marking a 158-11 (48.45m).
Redshirt senior Lauren Jones represented the Sooners in ‘Section A’ by taking third with a mark at 179-6 (54.72m).
The men’s and women’s shot put competition concluded field events in Austin. For the men, redshirt senior Cooper Campbell placed sixth, marking a 62-4.50 (19.01m), while junior Payden Montana (16.86m), senior Faith Ette (15.70m) and Lauren Jones (15.61m) took seventh, 10th and 11th, respectively.
On the track, the men’s 4×100-meter relay squad of Karson Kowalchuk, Richard Kuykendoll, Demarius Smith, and Marlowe Mosley and the women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Mikayla Hayes, Ja’Leesa Giles, Camri Austin, and Kennedy Blackmon both took eighth in the finals. The men clocked a 39.89, while the women finished with a time at 45.05.
